Qatar announced its 2006-07 budget whereby revenues are projected to hit QR 56,000 million. Despite several years of high energy prices, the resulting surplus of QR 2.3 billion (US$ 632 million) is only the second forecasted budget since 2001-02, as Qatar’s budget, like those of its Gulf neighbors, is traditionally based on conservative oil price assumptions.
Revenues this year are 50% higher than those of QR 38 billion (US$ 10.4 billion ) in 2005-06.
