Catch of the Day: Qatar to Launch First Air-Conditioned Jogging Track

Le Mirage Real Estate will build Qatar’s first residential project having a roof top air-conditioned jogging track, giving its residents a chance to take a bird’s-eye view of the city while jogging. The project ‘Le Mirage – Citywalk’, expected to be completed by the end of 2018, is coming up in Bin Mahmoud and will boast of 400 contemporary apartments.

Le Mirage Real Estate, a subsidiary of Sharaka Holdings, has eight projects under construction in Qatar, said a senior official of the company. An estimated 1,500 new residential units will be added by the end of 2018 taking the total number to 2,000 residential units. As many as 500 hotel units will also be delivered by end of 2018 and 70,000 square metre (sqm) of retail space, 20,000 sqm office space will be delivered by end of same year.

“Sharaka holdings is our vision about the real estate development, this vision is to go along Qatar Vision 2030. Today the economy seems to be slower than what it was three years ago. We did not stop developing, we maintain our developing plans knowing the needs of the market. All our projects are based on feasibility study,” Sheikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Thani, Chairman of Sharaka Holding told The Peninsula during the conference held at Amari Hotel Doha.

“We have invested QR6bn in the real estate sector for all the up-coming projects in Doha and even in London,” he added.

Le Mirage-Icon and Le Mirage-Downtown are under construction projects. Le Mirage-Icon is set in the heart of Doha’s bustling commercial center Bin Mahmoud.

Le Mirage-Downtown, mixed-use downtown development will feature one and two-bedroom residential apartments and more than 3,000 sqm of retail space located on the ground and mezzanine floors. With a sleek and temporary design, Le Mirage Downtown is set to become a renowned address in the central district of Doha.

Amer Fares, General Manager at Sharaka Holdings, told The Peninsula: “For most of the projects we engage our own companies. Our new building next to Amari Hotel will be a complimentary building to enhance quality of services like executive rooftop lounge and many interesting facilities. The jogging track will be one of its kind."
