The deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani issued on Tuesday an Emiri order relieving Sheikh Mohamed Bin Ahmed Bin Jassem Al Thani from his duties as minister of economy and trade.
The Emiri order stipulates that Yousuf Hussein Kamal, the minister of finance, shall be in charge of the ministry of economy and trade in addition of his duties as minister of finance. No reason was given to the surprising move.
Sheikh Mohamed was previously Manager of LNG Transportation in Qatar Petroleum. He replaced Sheikh Hamad Bin Faisal Al Thani who held the ministerial post since January 2002, when the Economy and Commerce portfolio was separated from the then Ministry of Finance, Economy & Commerce.
