The Ras Laffan power project, a Qatari power generation and water desalination complex, has purchased three evaporator units from Italy’s Belleli Energy Equipment for a total of 100 million Emirati dirhams ($27.22 million). The first unit has already been shipped to the Gulf state, while the remaining two will be assembled and dispatched by year-end 2002.

These are Belleli’s first locally produced evaporators, manufactured in the company’s new Hamriya Free Zone facility. The plant was established less than six months ago in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The company has a further Dh350-million in orders for various desalination units and power plants in the region, Belleli’s Procurement and Administration Manager Michele Gatta disclosed to Khaleej Times

With over 80 percent of Belleli’s international business conducted in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, the company operates another plant in the UAE’s Jebel Ali Free Zone, as well a regional office in Abu Dhabi. Belleli’s clients in the UAE include Abu Dhabi Water Electricity Authority (ADWEA), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dugas, Dubal and Vopak.
