Reichhold has been awarded certification to ISO 9001:2000 for its operations based in Jebel Ali Free Zone. Reichhold personnel were presented with the certificate by Yngve Amundsen, Middle Eastern manager for Management System Certification Services at Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
The ISO 9001:2000 standard requires that a certified company have a documented quality management system in place and that the company demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products that meet customer needs.
ISO 9001:2000 is a significant upgrade for Reichhold's Dubai facility. In addition to putting a system into place to meet customer requirements, Reichhold is required to demonstrate effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system itself and assurance of conformance to customer needs and regulatory compliance.
In awarding ISO 9001:2000 compliance, audit teams look at a company's entire business, rather than individual segments. The audit looks at how the business is run as a whole. Additionally, ISO 9001:2000 requires a process-based approach, looking at inputs, outputs and resources.
