ALBAWABA – Capcom, the Japanese video game developer and publishers, has recently released a financial statement that showcased impressive numbers for Resident Evil 4 Remake that make it the fastest selling entry in the franchise’s history with over 6.4 million copies sold, later announcing a new Gold Edition for the game with new gameplay expansions and extra content.
The long-awaited horror game’s remake entry has sold more than 6.4 million copies in its first year of release, with over a million copies more than the last announced figure in Sep. 2023, giving it the crown of the fastest selling game in the series, beating the previous, and most comparable entry, Resident Evil 2 Remake’s numbers of 5.8 million copies sold.
Resident Evil 4 Remake’s success was not capped to these figures only, as it has also broken the record of the best-selling game in the Japanese market with over 175,000 units sold on PS4 and PS5 in its release week, and number 8 in best selling games on Steam for 2023 according to Statista.
The 2023 release also significant recognition from critics, with Tristan Ogilvie from IGN saying about the release “at every step of the journey there are enhancements, both big and small”, as well as the Game Awards with nominations for Best Audio Design, Best Action\Adventure Game, and the glorious Game of the Year award.
