Atlantic Caspian Resources of London completed initial mobilization of its AMGG drilling rig to a new well located in the Kazakhstan's Akkul field.
The G6 well has a target depth of 9,187 feet with drilling anticipated to commence before year-end.
Atlantic Caspian's intent is to double G2's reserves that were identified in one of the three target reservoir sections shown to contain hydrocarbons from well logs originally taken in the late 1960s when G2 was first drilled.
Work by independent reservoir engineers on behalf of the company has shown substantial hydrocarbon responses to well logs indicating the existence of hydrocarbons in these reservoir sections.
The G6 well will further assess the reservoir's size and potential hydrocarbon reserves associated with the Akkul license area.
