The installation of wireless data entry and bar-coding solution from Symbol Technologies at Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport’s air freight terminal, is expected to speed up cargo handling and allow online tracking via Internet.
“The system allows the airline to provide on-the-spot bookings and instant online status reports on cargo movements through every point of the freight transport process. All terminal operations are controlled by automated storage and information systems based on an in-house computer system," said Mohamad Murtada, assistant vice president at Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJA), who added that this project is a major step in the total revamp of the processes and techniques utilized by RJA.
