Ali Rodriguez OPEC'S Secretary General said On Tuesday to local newspapers, El Naciona and El Universal that OPEC would discuss proposals received from third parties on the formation of a new crude oil marker.
"That's something that will take time, it isn't easy, but neither is it impossible," he said. "We have to find a formula because the gap between the price of the [crude] markers and our crudest is getting bigger," he said.
Rodriguez said to the local newspapers that he did not think a single contract would violate the free trade spirit of the World Trade Organization and said the OPEC committee would discuss the matter on March 12, four days before the next ministerial meeting in Vienna.
Rodriguez returned to Vienna Tuesday after a brief visit to Venezuela. - (petroleumworld)
