Two Russian organizations, the Intersputnik international space communication organization and the Alfa Eco Russian company, have announced that they will be cooperating in launching communication satellites and developing the telecom system in Iraq, reported the Interfax news agency.
According to an Intersputnik spokesperson, Iraq has voiced interest in a multi-faceted program, which will involve the launch of a small communications satellite, the restoration of its television broadcasting system and the reconstruction of ground stations and antennas that will be connected to the international telephone system in Russia.
Both Russian companies stressed that they will not be involved in restoring the military telecom systems of Iraq. — (MENA Report)
