The Saudi Iron and Steel Company (Hadeed), a Sabic affiliate conducted a seminar to introduce the American Business Association to its products. The meeting follows a similar seminar held for the Society of American Military Engineers earlier this year in Riyadh.
The seminar, at which Hadeed and Sabiv senior management took part, was held in the Eastern Province, and was also attended by some of the region's foremost engineers, businessmen, and private consultants.
Vice President of Sabic's Shared Services Division, Mutlaq Al-Murished opened the seminar by introducing the company. Al-Murished also presented an overview of economic developments in the industry in general and in the Kingdom, and gave some perspectives on the role of the World Trade Orgranization (WTO) and globalization.
The American Business Association is a voluntary, non-profit organization that is designed to foster trade, commercial activities, and investment between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also seeks to promote friendship and understanding between the two countries.
Hadeed’s production capacity now stands at 2.8 million tons per year of reinforcing bars, wire rod, and light sections. The company also has a flat steel production facility with a capacity of 850,000 tons. A planned expansion will raise this to some two million tons of hot and cold rolled and galvanized steel products. Hadeed products are exported to more than 23 countries. — (menareport.com)
