Samsung has temporarily halted production of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.

An unnamed official at a Samsung supplier on Monday reported that the tech giant took the unprecedented measure for consumer safety.

The move comes after a number of reports that Samsung's replacement devices had also caught fire, with growing fears the problem has not yet been solved.
