OLED displays are the next big thing for smartphones, and Samsung wants to rule that demand with a massive plant.

Samsung reportedly wants to build a huge factory, devoted to producing OLED screens, says ETNews. The final investment plans are not confirmed as of now, as there will be a board of directors meeting next month. According to proposed plans, the plant will be the largest OLED facility in the world, making Samsung the leading supplier.

It is indeed a race to the top, as other companies such as LG are are investing heavily in OLED panels.

Meanwhile, Apple might be working with Samsung to get their own OLED displays for the iPhone 8. In fact, Apple has already signed a deal with Samsung to supply OLED displays for all versions of the 2018 iPhone, which will continue into 2019.

We hope this could mean more devices with OLED technology, and look forward to it.
