A senior official at the Advertising Association of the Gulf Cooperation Council has predicted that the advertising sector in Saudi Arabia will grow strongly over the coming few years.
Quoted by the Jedda Arab News, Talal Al-Dhulaymi, a member of the association’s board of directors forecasted that the volume of advertising will grow by an average of $500 million annually for the next five years. This, he said, was due to an expanding consumer market and growing sophistication of local mass media.
As a result, Dhulaymi added, Saudi Arabia will register the highest growth rate in the Gulf, which currently has an annual market volume of more than one billion dollars.
However, the Saudi Arabian advertising mix is still exceedingly traditional, Dhulaymi pointed out, with the print media continuing to a major share of advertising capital. The reason for this, he said, is that newspapers are still considered the most reliable medium for news. ― (MENA Report)
