Saudi Arabia’s Al-Zamil Group and Germany’s Dorma GmbH have announced the signing of a multi-million dollar joint venture, which will see production of automatic doors in a new plant in Dammam. Under the deal, announced at the Big 5 construction and contracting show currently under way at the Dubai World Trade Center, the two have established a separate company — Dorma Arabia Automatic Doors Limited – which is due to begin production imminently.
Dorma Arabia has already designed and built the factory in Damman. “We opened our first distribution plant in Jebel Ali three years ago supplying automatic door technology across the Middle East,” said Hans Joerg Oberberg, joint executive director of Dorma Arabia. “With Al Zamil we will now be able to increase our distribution base to cover not just the GCC, but North Africa and Yemen.”
While some of the door components will be supplied from Dorma’s German base, many, including glass and aluminium will be supplied locally by Al Zamil.
Dorma GmbH is one of over 150 German companies participating in the Big 5, which runs at the DWTC until September 19. The German pavilion is the largest of 15 national pavilions at the show. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
