The Saudi Electricity Company recently signed a 35 million Saudi riyal ($9.3 million) contract to supply nearly 8,000 residents of Baha and Tihama with electricity. These services are to begin within 24 months.
The contract, signed with an unnamed national company, will establish electricity distribution networks in these areas, according to Al-Jazirah daily. Many of these regions have not been supplied with appropriate electric services until now.
Saudi Electricity recently inaugurated the first phase of the Ghuzlan Electricity Station Project, the second steam-run electricity generation station in the Kingdom. Reportedly, the station will initially operate on an experimental basis.
Furthermore, the second phase of the Ghuzlan project, valued SR 6.5 billion ($1.73 billion), will consist of four separate phases. The overall capacity of the projected station is estimated at 2,400 megawatts.
In addition, the company also signed three more contracts, valued at SR 322 million, with the Bin Laden Group last month. These contracts have boosted the electricity generation capacity in the cities of Asir, Baha, Jazan, Qanfada and Bishi.
Moreover, Saudi Electricity also signed an additional contract valued at SR 60 million with an unnamed company. Under this agreement, 20,000 residents will be provided with electric services. –(Mena Report)
