ALBAWABA – Saudi Arabia announced hosting the upcoming UN Internet Governance Forum from 15-19 December 2024 in Riyad city. The kingdom is looking forward to enhancing international cooperation and raising awareness about the importance of sustainable development of the Internet during the forum.

UN Internet Governance Forum

Saudi Arabia will be the host for the 19th edition of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Riyadh from 15-19 December, with the aim of improving Internet governance globally, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The forum will take place at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, around 10,000 global experts and participants from 160 countries will be attending. The event will feature over 1,000 international speakers and include 300 sessions and workshops.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) focuses on highlighting the discussion and formulation of international policies related to Internet governance in cooperation between governments, the private sector, and the non-profit sector.

It is worth noting that the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was first held in 2006 and it has consistently been dedicated to facilitating digital opportunities and addressing digital risks and challenges. The forum is organized annually by the United Nations, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable development of the Internet, address policy issues related to Internet governance, exchange experiences, identify new digital challenges, and find solutions to them.
