The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) recently required all commercial banks and money exchange agencies to take precautionary measures against the influx of counterfeit Saudi and American currency, reports Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily.

SAMA warned that organized crime groups take advantage of the pilgrimage and tourism seasons to bring counterfeit bills into the Kingdom.

The Authority also put out a warning to Saudi tourists vacationing in Lebanon, Africa and states in southeastern Asia, to beware of the sale of counterfeit Saudi, Gulf and American bills. –(MENA Report)
