Saudi demand for gold hits peak record in 2001

The representative of the World Golf Council in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, Usama Al-Wazeer, stated that the demand for gold in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hit 58.8 tons in the last quarter of 2001, a 16 percent growth compared with the same quarter in the previous year, reported Al-Watan . The domestic demand for gold in the Kingdom hit a peak record of 228 tons in the entire year of 2001. The previous peak level in terms of local gold consumption was recorded in 1992, where the demand stood at 225 tons. — (menareport.com)
