Saudi Defense Minister Prince Sultan Ibn 'Abd Al-'Aziz recently inaugurated the new Saudi Strategic Storage Program (SSSP) site in Abha, the third of five underground petroleum-product storage facilities to be opened across the Kingdom.

Abha is a major city in the mountainous 'Asir region of southwestern Saudi Arabia. The first two product storage facilities were built in Riyadh and Jiddah. Two more sites are under construction, one in Madinah and the other in Buraydah.

The SSSP project is expected to be completed within four years, including the Madinah and Buraydah sites, where 40 percent to 65 percent of the construction is finished. The size of each storage facility is based on civil and military product demand in the area that each facility will cover. — (menareport.com)
