The Saudi government has awarded a contract worth more than SR1.4 billion ($373 million) to three local companies for a major water project in the capital Riyadh.

As per the deal, these companies will manufacture, supply and implement a feeder line project in the capital from the water tanks to three different locations within the city, reported the Arab News.

The project consists of three pipelines, of which two are 80 inches in diameter with a total length of 92.5 km, while the third pipeline measures 100 inches in diameter with a length of 41 km, said the report citing the utility minister.

These pipelines will connect the reservoirs at the highest point with the reservoir terminals.

Minister of Water and Electricity Abdullah Al-Hussayen said the project will be implemented in 915 days for the B1 part and 1,095 days for the B2 part from the date of submitting the site to the contractors
