The Saudi government has reaffirmed its cooperation with US law enforcement authorities regarding the case of Ali S. Marri, a Qatari national indicted last month on charges of lying to the FBI about arranging a bank account for the September 11 terrorists.

According to a recently published statement by the Saudi Embassy in Washington, Marri’s wife, Maha Al-Marri will be made available to the FBI in Riyadh, should they wish to interview her. The Embassy helped the Saudi national return to the Kingdom on November 10, even though the Federal Grand Jury had demanded her testimony and the FBI had confiscated her passport.

The Marri family arrived in the US from Qatar on September 10, 2001. According to American officials, Al-Marri contacted Mustafa Ahmed Hawsawi, a suspected Al-Qaeda member upon his arrival. Hawsawi has been alleged with managing a bank account for the men who carried out the attacks on September 11. Ali-Marri has pleaded innocent to charges filed against him. — (menareport.com)
