The residents of Sharjah are again bracing for a hike in the rents of residential buildings, real estate agents told Khaleej Times.

Blaming landlords for misusing their powers, several residents said that their complaints to the Rents Dispute Committee at the Sharjah Municipality are falling on "deaf ears." Property agents confirmed that the rents had risen by at least 20 per cent.

One real estate dealer told the paper that one and two bedrooms in buildings situated in Al Nahda area, Buhairah Corniche, Al Taawun area, Al Qassimiya, as well as Abu Shagara were available between Dh25,000 and Dh35,000 or even more.
