Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, recently announced that some Dh 100 million would be provided in compensation by UAE authorities for citizens whose properties are affected by Sharjah’s urban development and road projects.
A reported 121 citizens of the emirate are affected by the development projects, and will therefore receive monetary compensation, stated Salah bin Butti, Director General of the Emirate's Planning and Survey Department.
''So far, Dh 303.7 million have been paid in compensation to citizens,'' the director general said of previous payments made by Sharjah authorities according to reports by the Emirates’ News Agency, WAM.
''The gesture underlines Sheikh Sultan's firm keenness to provide decent life to citizens, support socio-economic development and stability and improve basic services infrastructure and facilities,'' he pointed out.
Sharjah citizens who own real estate in the areas of Al Hamriya and Al Khan will reportedly be compensated in the amount of $27.2 million, according to Salah bin Butti.
Sharjah’s various ministries have embarked on a renovation and development plan to improve the emirate’s infrastructure system, including the construction and upgrade of roadways. Unfortunately, planned routes for the proposed roads conflicted will already existing real estate developments in certain areas.
