A few days ago, travel agent Thomas Cook announced it’s canceling all Sharm El Sheikh holiday bookings for the winter of 2017-18 and summer of 2018 seasons. However, we have never believed it when people said “when one door shuts, another one opens,” until now.
According to a new survey, Sharm El Sheikh is — believe it or not — Pinterest and Airbnb’s top trending destination. Having the Egyptian resort city top the list of “destinations that people are saving on Pinterest and checking out on Airbnb” may not seem like a big deal, but it is.
In the aftermath of the disastrous Russian plane crash in 2015, Egypt’s tourism flat-lined, turning the once bustling Sharm El Sheikh into a ghost town. However, from the start of 2017 various local and international media outlets have begun to report that Egypt’s tourism is finally on the road to recovery, and this is a great start!
