SITA has installed its Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) for Yemen Airways at Aden International Airport. Under the terms of the five-year contract, SITA will host and manage CUTE, thereby consolidating check-in and boarding systems for the many airlines operating at the airport.
Aden International Airport recorded five percent traffic growth in 2001, creating a need for more streamlined operations to ease increased congestion. Yemen Airways will use a remotely hosted version that provides a solution tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized airports.
It will enable the airlines to share passenger handling facilities, while also providing them access to their own host applications from the CUTE workstation for functions including reservations, ticketing, boarding pass and baggage tag issuance and departure control.
As part of the project, 12 new intelligent workstations, a remote main server as well as local, back-up servers and gate readers will be installed across the airport’s eight check-in desks and four gate facilities.
"With the installation of CUTE in Aden, Yemen Airways has added yet another key component of SITA’s portfolio to its successful IT systems, i.e. the Gabriel reservations system. With SITA’s CUTE we are sure to deliver even better service to all our valued airline customers," said Amin Al-Haimy, managing director of Commercial Affairs for Yemen Airways.
The contract adds to the 25,000 CUTE workstations SITA provides that are in use by over 285 customers at over 200 airports worldwide. SITA launched its CUTE Lite solution in 1998 and it is now installed in some 100 airports worldwide.
SITA is an international provider of integrated information and telecommunications solutions to the air transport industry.
