Sofec to build $239-million loading quays offshore Algeria

Algeria’s state-owned oil company Sonatrach has signed a $239-million contract with FMC Sofec under which the US-based firm will design and construct five offshore loading rigs. The marine installations are expected to double Algeria’s annual oil export capacity to 220 million metric tons by 2005, reported AFP.  

 

FMC Sofec is a turnkey supplier of marine terminals and turret mooring systems for Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facilities. The company specializes in the design, construction, installation and commissioning of systems for a broad range of marine and subsea applications. Established in 1972, FMC Sofec is a subsidiary of the FMC Corporation Energy Systems Group, a multinational company based in Chicago. — (menareport.com)
