Sophos, a world leader in protecting businesses against viruses and spam has announced that the company's CEO and co-founder, Dr. Jan Hruska, has attended the launch of Al Adeeb Information Technology, as specialist distributor of Sophos' IT security solutions. The event took place on Tuesday, 29 March 2005, from 7pm to 9pm in the grounds of the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

The purpose of the event was to inaugurate the business activities of Al Adeeb Information Technologies as well as offering practical advice on how to safeguard computers against security threats. The event was attended by invited guests from the Gulf region, including Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al-Nahyan and Richard Makepeace, the British Ambassador to the U.A.E.

"As computers grow more powerful and more popular, so do the threats that
try to compromise them," said Dr Jan Hruska, CEO and co-founder of Sophos.
"Raising awareness on how today's threats can be thwarted as well as educating on secure computing practices help safe-guard users from being victimised."
