Amid expectations that the United States will retaliate against the September 11 terrorist attacks, businesspeople who had planned to travel to the Middle East region are canceling their reservations, South Korean tourism sources told Yonhap news agency in Seoul.
According to Freedom Travel Service, 10 out of 30 travelers scheduled to leave for Cairo, Egypt on September 15th canceled their departures. In addition, the Seoul Choson Ilbo daily has reported that South Korean companies in South Asia and parts of the Middle East are closing their offices due to fears of involvement in possible retaliatory strikes against Afghanistan by the USA.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Daerim and SK in Egypt have submitted plans for an emergency withdrawal to their respective headquarters. — (Mena report)
