The Space Turk Group announced plans to launch a 10-kilogram mini satellite in five years’ time. The $10 million satellite has a target launch date of August 30, 2007. It will orbit the planet for three years, reported Aksam. The Space Turk Group is a joint endeavor of space scientists and research groups, who study under the authority of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK).
Also this week, the Israeli government launched its reconnaissance satellite, the Ofek-5, which will soon begin providing Israel’s intelligence agencies with high-resolution images of the Middle East. The satellite, replacing Ofek-3, has a projected lifetime of four years. — (menareport.com)
