The government of Sudan and representatives of the Islamic Development Bank, based in Jeddah Saudi Arabia, have signed two agreements, one involving the financing of the resettlement of displaced people in South Kordofan, and the second the funding of the purchase of new carriages for the Sudan Railways Corporation.

According to Abd al-Rahim Hamdi, Sudan’s minister of finance and national economy, the cost of the project for resettlement of refugees in the South Kordofan area is $7.51 million—of which the IDB would provide $6.54 million in financing. The loans to the Sudan Railways Corporation will enable the purchase of 180 freight carriages.

The minister praised the continuous cooperation between the Sudan and the IDB. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
