Sun Microsystems Middle East & North Africa announced Monday the three dates and venues for its annual Saudi Arabian Sun Forum. The events – in Jeddah, Riyadh and Al Khobar – will feature a review of developments in commercial technology, via presentations on mobility, storage, software and services, as well as a thorough update on Sun’s latest products, services and directions for the year ahead.

Guests will be able to get expert opinion from four specialists in different fields of IT. John Foster, who is responsible for Sun’s volume products sales in MEA, will talk on the impending mobility revolution, new servers and processors and the potential of blade computing. The range of disaster recovery, storage and secure data management solutions available from Sun will be discussed by Stephen Niemic, storage product manager, Sun Microsystems, MENA.

Saudi business leaders will also hear about the changing role of IT services, including support, training and education from Graham Porter, Sun’s regional marketing manager. Sun software expert Hakim Boulazreg, of Tech Access, will explore the ingenious ways in which businesses can use Java Desktop Software and Java Enterprise Software.

“Saudi Arabia is an important market for Sun,” said Amar Wadjih, regional manager, MENA, Sun Microsystems. “That is why the team is committed to hosting this annual event for Saudi businessmen and IT managers. The Sun Forum enables Sun to give an up-to-the-minute review of its latest developments in terms of services and technology,” said Wadjih.

The Sun roadshow is at the Jeddah Hilton on May 16; the Riyadh Sheraton on May 18; and the Al Khobar Meridien on May 19. Each event will consist of a half-day seminar, concluding with lunch.

Sun Microsystems has increased its share of the Middle East’s industry-specific solutions market by more than a quarter in the past year. The group has conducted much Middle East-specific market research and has grown its partner network by over 40 percent in the past year. (menareport.com)
