ALBAWABA - In the wake of rising cyber threats, SwordSec, a key player in the Turkey Cyber Security Cluster based in Teknopark Ankara, is sounding the alarm on the potential global fallout of targeted cyber assaults.

SwordSec, an active member of the Turkey Cyber Security Cluster, located in Teknopark Ankara, is leveraging its experienced team to provide crucial support to institutions and organizations in managing attack surfaces, gathering external threat intelligence, and implementing effective cybersecurity solutions. The impact of their solutions is extending to users in Turkey, Europe, and the U.S.

Seyfullah Kılıç, the General Manager of SwordSec Cyber Security Technologies Inc., shared insights with AA regarding the recent surge in cyber attacks, particularly those impacting various sectors, including the financial realm.

Highlighting the far-reaching consequences of ransomware attacks, such as the one witnessed at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Kılıç emphasized that these incidents not only put the targeted institution at risk but also have the potential to disrupt global financial systems. The recent disruption of U.S. Treasury transactions following the ICBC attack serves as a stark example.

Kılıç shed light on the mechanics of ransomware attacks, describing them as infiltrations into institutional networks that encrypt data and bring operations to a standstill. He remarked:

"The repercussions of ICBC's inability to execute transactions in the U.S. Treasury market are a direct hit to financial stability. This underscores the critical need for a proactive cybersecurity approach.

In sectors dealing with sensitive data, such as finance, maintaining the highest level of cybersecurity measures is paramount. Given that an attack of this nature could strain relations between major economic powers like the U.S. and China, cybersecurity policies assume significant importance in the realm of international relations.

This incident serves as a stark reminder for institutions to craft comprehensive security strategies, considering not only their internal network security but also the intricacies of supply chains and business partnerships. Additionally, having a swift and effective intervention plan in the event of cyber attacks is of utmost importance."
