Syrian official statistics have shown that the domestic sales of the Public Meat Company totaled 184,326,000 Syrian pounds in the first half of 2000, out of SP 247,655,000 planned sales volume for the same period.
These statistics, appearing in an Al-Baath newspaper report, show that the Public Meat Company had exported 126,000 cattle heads, weighing 5,294 tons and valued at $11,848,000, out of 50,000 planned cattle head, weighing 2,000 tons and valued at $44,000,000 during that period. In the first half of 1999, the company had exported only 36,000 cattle heads, weighing 1,338 tons and valued at $3,362,000. ¯ (Albawaba-MEBG)
