Syria has decided to buy 10,000 tons of the Syrian Golan’s apple, “due to the difficult economic circumstances of Syrian citizens in the occupied Golan heights and disability to market their products,” an official source at the Foreign Ministry told SANA on Monday.
The source added that the product is Syrian and owned by Syrians ….. "So we agree to market it through al-Qunaitera city, Southwest of Syria crossing point under the supervision of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force UNDOF."
The source stressed that "our aim is to meet the dire needs of our Syrian people in Golan who are suffering from the Israeli occupation and to help easing suffering." “Syria is keen on the interests of its people as a whole, particularly in such circumstances,” the source concluded.
Earlier this year, a spokesman for the Israeli ministry of defense said that minister Shaoul Mofar permitted selling Syria 15,000 tons of apples produced in the Golan heights. The Israeli spokesman said "It is the first trade deal permitted officially," between the two countries.
