A senior source in the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce and Industry revealed that an Iraqi product exhibition is planned to be held in Damascus in the beginning of June, reported Al-Quds Al-Arabi.
The same source added that the ministry is planning to set up a large market in Damascus to showcase the Iraqi goods imported for sale in Syria. Iraqi manufacturers were solicited by their government to participate in the exhibition, which will last nine days.
Bilateral trade between Iraq and Syria amounts to approximately $500 million per annum. A bilateral trade pact signed in January went into effect last month, and since April 1, goods exchanged have been exempt from tariffs. — (MENA Report)
