The number of passengers carried by Syria’s national carrier, Syrian Arab Airlines (SAA), grew to 297,653 in the first nine months of 2001, up from 234,103 passengers in the corresponding period the previous year. These figures translate into a 27 percent rise, the official Al-Baath reported.
The number of the passengers arriving into Syria flown by the Syrian national airlines company increased from 235,534 passengers to 298,492 passengers during the same period. SAA recently introduced its first weekly charter flight between Paris and Beirut. The company already operates a bi-weekly flight between Beirut and Aleppo in Syria. — (menareport.com)
