Tabreed, the world’s largest district cooling company, has won three contracts to provide cooling services worth a total of 7,600 Tons of Refrigeration (TR).

These include a 4,100 TR project for Hotel Jal Tower and a 2,300 TR mixed use development with Aerated Concrete Industries Company. Both these projects, in Dubai, will be supplied from the Sheikh Zayed cooling plant.

The third win is a 1,200 TR Etihad Complex development in Abu Dhabi which will be supplied from the Al Raha Gardens cooling plant. All the contracts have been signed for a term of 20 years.

“It’s not only major developments but small to medium ones as well that are beginning to use ‘green technology’,” said Dany Safi, CEO, Tabreed. “As international concerns over global warming and climate change increase, there is a growing pressure on companies to reduce their carbon footprint as well as employ more environmentally-friendly technologies.

“District cooling, which helps conserve energy as well as reduce greenhouse gas emissions, is all set to enjoy an upward demand curve as the rate of real estate development across the region continues to grow exponentially.”
