Despite recent moves to add additional tourist and residential accommodations in the emirate of Dubai, industry sources predict that even more developments will be needed to meet the demands of the region in coming years.

"What we are (already) building is not enough," said chief executive officer of property giant, Tat-weer, Saeed Al Muntafiq, according to Gulf News.

However, this and other projects in the works are apparently not enough to meet the emirate's growing needs. "As far as our data is concerned, Dubai needs 80,000 rooms in total by 2010," Al Muntafiq added.

Some six million tourists visited Dubai in 2005, raising hotel occupancy rates to at least 90 percent, while more than 15 million tourists are expected by 2010.
