Cuts in prices on technology shipments announced in January by Emirati IT product retailer Tech Data, resulted in a 40 percent increase in the company's technology shipments from Dubai and Bahrain to the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Last month, Tech Data announced more competitive shipment charges for technology products, a move intended to help technology companies overcome potential additional costs and other uncertainties resulting from the move to create a GCC customs union. The move, taken in partnership with Tech Data logistics partners, saw shipping service charges on technology products from Tech Data in Dubai and Bahrain, and to the rest of the GCC reduced by up to 25 percent.

Founded in 1974, Tech Data is a provider of IT products, logistics management and other value-added services. The company and its subsidiaries serve more than 100,000 technology resellers in the US, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. — (menareport.com)
