The Arab Radio and Transistor Company, Telemisr, has contracted a British firm to assist the company’s restructuring and development plans, announced Hany Serour, Telemisr chairman.

The British company, whose name has not yet been disclosed, is expected to submit its restructuring report by the end of next July, according to a report in Al-Alam Al-Youm.

The foreign consulting firm was commissioned to devise an overhaul-restructuring program for Telemisr’s production and administrative systems, aiming to reduce manufacturing costs and guarantee market competitiveness.

The paper also reported that an extraordinary Telemisr general assembly in April ended with the withdrawal of three board members in protest of certain budget items for the fiscal year ending December 2000.

Established in 1962, Telemisr produced radio transistors, television sets, and various electrical appliances. The company is hoping to extend its business outside the Egyptian border. ― (MENA Report)
