Fastlink, Jordan's first GSM (global system for mobile communications) service provider, is using Tellabs equipment to help deliver mobile Internet services and upgrade voice quality for its one million customers.

US-based Tellabs' equipment enables Fastlink to add more capacity to its network, efficiently manage network bandwidth and eliminate echo and background noise from mobile calls. Fastlink is using the Tellabs’s 6340 switch node, the Tellabs 8100 managed access system and the Tellabs 3100 voice-quality enhancement system to improve its GSM network.

The Tellabs 6340 switch node adds more capacity to Fastlink's network by using fiber-optic technology that supports 3G (third generation for mobile communications) services. The Tellabs 8100 managed access system integrates with the Tellabs 6340 system to manage Fastlink's network to ensure bandwidth is available when and where it is needed. The Tellabs 3100 voice-quality enhancement system improves voice quality by eliminating acoustic echo, balancing speech levels and reducing background noise. — (menareport.com)
