Thuraya’s contracts SPs in Yemen, Nigeria

Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company continues to advance through African and Middle East marketS. The company has recently signed up Partners company as its mobile service provider in Yemen and the Danimex Communications company to provide service in Nigeria. 

 

The service provider agreement gives Partners and Danimex, the right to distribute and market Thuraya's mobile satellite services and products throughout Yemen and Nigeria, respectively. These include user terminals and SIM cards (Subscriber Identity Module) as well as overseeing billing and customer care aspects. 

 

Thuraya's chairman, Mohammad Omran, said that “Yemen is a key market for Thuraya services and we will work closely with the Partners Company towards enhancing the telecommunications services and meeting the needs of customers in various sectors in Yemen." 

 

Nashwan Al-Hamdi, Deputy Chairman of the privately held Yemeni enterprise, Partners, noted that “Yemen has a big geographic area with many scattered and remote communities, and we are confident that the border-to-border telecommunications coverage offered by Thuraya’s mobile satellite system would be a significant boost to the existing telecom infrastructure in Yemen.“ 

 

The Denmark-based Danimex Communication Ltd has earlier signed an agreement with Thuraya, becoming its service provider in Denmark. The company has offices in Nigeria, Zimbabwe and USA. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
