The general director of the W.J. Towel Company, the sole distributor of Tilda basmati rice in the UAE, has stated recently that nearly 1320-foot containers of Tilda basmati rice will enter the local markets on a monthly basis. The company’s director, quoted by Al-Bayan newspaper, added that the basmati rice sales had grown by 10 percent annually.

The W.J. Towel Company recently organized a two-day seminar for local merchants, in which the properties of their rice were demonstrated. In addition, it provided information regarding the methods of farming and manufacturing used in the development of this rice.

The containers of Tilda basmati rice are shipped to the UAE from India. The price per kilogram of this rice amounts to 5.5 dirhams. In addition to private customers, this product is consumed in large quantities by local hotels and restaurants.

Company sources reported that this brand name of rice is available in all of the Emirates’ markets, where it is preferred by both Gulf residents and expatriates. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
