Tinder is introducing a “Super Like” — a new swipe that lets people communicate when they’re super excited.

Swiping up will tell the person who’s been swiped that they have been chosen , by showing a special blue message at the bottom of the screen. But users will only get a limited number of super swipes per day, meaning that people will have to be careful they don’t use them all too quickly.

Before the super like, users have two options when presented with a profile: swiping left to reject someone, or swipe right to show interest.

Initially, users will be given one super swipe per day. But that is likely to be increased later on.

"Because they’re so limited in number, a Super Like, or a 'swipe up', sends a more powerful signal, conveying an especially high level of interest,” said Tinder’s CEO, Sean Rad.

“People like to know that someone finds them special, and we think this will lead to even better matches. In this and future product releases we’re focused on maintaining the incredible fun of the Tinder community while providing our users with better tools for making great connection”.

The new feature will first be available in Australia. It will then be rolled out around the rest of the world later this year.

Tinder has been gradually adding new features — the most prominent of which is Tinder Plus, a newly introduced premium service that charges people for extra tools like an undo button.
