MWC has pretty much become the best show for introducing new phones and although this year we didn’t have HTC or Samsung reveal any new phones, there have still been some fantastic phones officially announced.
Here are our top 5 picks:
1) LG G6
The LG G6 is a beautifully designed phone that makes many things right after the disappointing G5. LG has made the bezels disappear and adopted a tall 2:1 screen ratio which looks quite awesome. LG has also upgraded both the back cameras to 13MP promising better shots.
2) Huawei P10/P10 Plus
Huawei took the lids off it’s P10 and P10 Plus phones with a refreshed design and beautiful colors in partnership with Pantone. Featuring the same speedy processors as the Mate 9 and a similar dual camera setup, expect the P10 and P10 Plus to be fast and great at taking pictures. One of the highlights of the two new phones is using Leica for the front camera as well for better selfies. The P10 Plus also has a wider aperture at f/1.8. Expect the P10 and the P10 Plus to be available shortly in the Middle East.
3) Xperia XZ Premium
Sony surprised everyone by announcing the first phone to officially be based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor. And it didn’t stop there. It will also be the first phone with a 4K HDR screen as well as Sony’s new Motion Eye camera that can record at an insane 960fps. Unfortunately, the unit won’t be available till late spring.
4) BlackBerry KEYone
Coming back with a physical keyboard device, the BlackBerry KeEYone was announced in partnership with TCL. It brings back many of the tricks that made BlackBerry famous and if you enjoy the tactile experience of typing on your phone, there’s no better phone than the keyONE. Although release dates for the Middle East haven’t been disclosed, we’ve heard that it will be launching soon.
5) Nokia 6
Nokia is back with new smartphones except this time around, they’re playing with Android instead of Window Mobile OS. Although Nokia didn’t announce a high-end phone, it did make the Nokia 6 available for worldwide release. It's powered by the relatively budget-ended Snapdragon 430 processor but the price point is set to 229 Euros giving you a great device and a great price. The best part about it is that it runs stock Android.
