Tourist arrivals to Egypt double in February 2002

The number of tourists visiting Egypt in February 2002 more than doubled compared to the corresponding month the previous year. During the month of February 2002, a total of 351,000 visitors arrived in Egypt, up from 107,000 the previous year, according to a report released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).  

 

Egypt received a total of 4.65 million tourists in 2001. Arab visitors represent 20 to 25 percent of Egypt’s tourism traffic, ranking in second place after European travelers. The Egyptian government aims to attract 9.5 million tourists into the country by 2005. — (menareport.com)
