Turkish mobile phone operator Turkcell (TKC) received an injunction against an order requiring the company to resolve a roaming dispute with other companies, stated a press release. Previously, Turkey 's Telecom Board ruled Turkcell had to reach an agreement by Nov. 15, 2001, but Turkcell was unable to obtain an injunction.
Turkey 's Telecommunications Authority issued a regulation regarding the policies and procedures related to a national roaming agreement, which required the parties to reach a national roaming agreement within 30 days.
Turkcell said it will also seek international arbitration within the legal time period. Turkcell, Turkey 's first mobile operator, and privately held Telsim Iletisim Hizmetleri are under pressure by the market regulator to open their networks to the newcomers, namely Is-Tim and Aycell. — (menareport.com)
