Increasing numbers of Turkish workers are heading to the Middle East to find employment, new statistics show

Turkey sent 57 thousand and 953 workers to foreign countries mainly Iraq, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan for work purposes in 2012 according to Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) statistics. 

The number of people who travelled to foreign countries to work increased 10.41 percent in 2012 compared to 2011. 

The number of workers sent to Morocco, Iran, Qatar, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Ukraine and Oman decreased while the number of Turkish workers sent to Germany, Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Israel, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and Saudi Arabia increased in 2012 compared to 2011. 

Turkey didn't send any workers to USA, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Finland, Ghana, Hong Kong, Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Congo, Maldives, Malaysia, Nepal, Norway, Panama, Thailand and Taiwan in 2012.
