A convoy of trucks carrying 250 tons of wheat sent by Turkey left northeast Afghanistan on Friday, November 16 bound for areas formerly held by the Taliban, the Turkish foreign ministry said.
The dispatch was among the first humanitarian supplies sent to the region following the retreat of the Taliban, the statement said. The wheat was to be distributed to people in Mazar-i-Sharif, Taloqan and Pul-i-Khumri with the help of ACTED, a French non-governmental group working in the war-torn country, it added. — (AFP, Ankara)
